Why ReliCheck Built Research Software for the Mac

Today's research needs software that feels fast, private, and at home on the machine researchers already trust. That is why ReliCheck built Quanta, Quala, and MM Studio for the Mac.

Today's researchers are carrying more of the work on their own machines: survey datasets, interview transcripts, field notes, codebooks, models, reports, and sensitive participant information. They need software that can keep up without making the work feel heavier than it already is.

We built ReliCheck's research tools for the Mac because the Mac is where many researchers already think, write, analyze, and present their work. It is familiar, portable, secure, and powerful enough for serious research. With Apple Silicon and macOS, it has also become a strong home for research software that runs locally, protects data, and stays out of the way.

Built for the Mac Researchers Already Use

Apple Silicon changed what a laptop can do. A modern Mac can handle statistical analysis, qualitative coding, transcription, and mixed-methods workflows without relying on a remote server for the core work. That matters when the data is sensitive, the deadline is real, or the researcher is working from a plane, a clinic, a classroom, a field site, or a kitchen table.

For quantitative researchers, that local power means models can run quickly on the machine in front of them. Regression, factor analysis, reliability testing, imputation, and structural equation modeling do not have to feel distant or fragile. They can be part of the normal rhythm of asking a question, checking the result, refining the model, and trying again.

For qualitative researchers, the same local-first approach matters in a different way. Interviews, focus groups, open-ended responses, and field notes often contain the most human and sensitive parts of a study. Keeping that material on the Mac is not just convenient. It helps researchers protect the people behind the data.

Quanta is our statistical software for Mac. It is built in Swift for Apple Silicon, with no R or Python required underneath. Researchers can refine scales, run reliability checks, explore models, and test alternatives quickly enough to stay in the flow of the work. The results are validated against trusted statistical environments and benchmark datasets, so speed does not come at the cost of correctness. Quanta runs offline, keeping the data on the Mac where it belongs.

Quala brings the same Mac-native approach to qualitative research. It is designed for applied researchers who have interviews, recordings, PDFs, field notes, or open-ended survey responses and need to move from raw material to defensible findings. Researchers can transcribe recordings, build codebooks, code excerpts, write memos, develop themes, and preserve a clear audit trail inside one project. Local intelligence can suggest codes from the researcher's own codebook, but the researcher stays in control. The software assists the analysis without taking authorship away from the person doing the study.

MM Studio is where the quantitative and qualitative strands come together. Mixed-methods work often becomes difficult at the point of integration: connecting numbers and words, comparing results, identifying convergence and divergence, and writing claims that the evidence can actually support. MM Studio was built around that integration step from the beginning. It helps researchers build joint displays, track evidence strength, and move toward meta-inferences without losing the trail back to the original data.
